FAN Presents: The lost Tom Savini interview

A little backstory on this interview: Eleven years ago, I had the honor of sitting down with legendary FX creator-turned-actor Tom Savini at G-Fest 2000 in Hollywood, California. At the time, I was in the middle of writing a book, a guide to all of those shot-on-video no-budget horror movies that were being churned out just before and after the mega-success of The Blair Witch Project. Tom Savini happened to be one of the guests of the convention, and when he had a few spare moments, he allowed me and my friend Scott Gilbert (on camera) to take a few of his moments talking to him about one such project he had been involved in. The film was called EYES ARE UPON YOU, in which scream queen Brinke Stevens played a succubus and Savini had a small part as a bad guy (the film was later re-released on DVD under the title Demon Lust). Anyway, we ended up with about four minutes of Tom discussing the film with us, and because the book was placed on the sidelines soon after due to moving across state, the taped interview sat in my closet for the past decade. So I figured “What the hell?” and since the book never materialized, here’s the quick interview, seen for the first time anywhere here on FAN.

As a bonus, here is probably the crappiest trailer possible for the film, which doesn’t feature Savini, but it’s the only thing we could find online for the damned thing.
