Fanime 2019 Recap

The time has come for Fanime once again. They continue their tradition of anime awesomeness, and of fan driven events. Meeting interesting people and a switch up in our hentai routines. This is the 25th anniversary of the convention and its silver celebration (Fanime has come a long way). Here is what transpired this year.

My panel of An Uncensored Hentai Review occurred once again this year, but this time around we went for a full on two hours. A decision I made because prep usually takes up so much time. But this had the effect of me having to come up more material to fill up the slot. This gave me the idea of doing a longer review video than usual. The longest review I’ve made (a whole whopping 27 minutes). A review of Bible Black New Testament. The first time my panel has revisited a series, and an iconic one at that. Which is why I added a whole group of Bible Black cosplayers.A long with a battle between Professor Censor and Super Mario. And if that wasn’t enough, there were shorter funny videos sprinkled throughout the show. Yes, I was very busy during this time.

But everything went as planned, and the audience had a lot of fun. We even set up a floor alter so that fans could take pics and get in on the Bible Black related fun. A big thank you to everyone involved in the panel.

Since I like talking to convention attendees, I decided to continue interrogating otakus on the con floor. Specifically a continuation of the “versus” questions I asked back in Crunchyroll Expo( where I asked who would win between Naruto and Deku). This time around I asked who is a better lover, Goku and Saitama. I previously tried to do this same question at HentaiCon 2018, but time prevented me to do so. Fortunately, at Fanime we got some good responses (and appearances by certain characters, ^_~ ).

On a less positive note, Fanime moved the majority of 18+ material over to the Doubletree hotel. Known as Silver Island, this location was over five miles away, and required attendees to get on a shuttle. Which of course was a hassle when waiting for said shuttles. No longer was Hentai Nights or Yaoi Nights a relaxing ritual to cap off the night. Now they were things you had to go out of your way to see, and to absolutely make sure you wanted to wait out in the cold for. Some attendees saw this as the convention quarantining 18+ away from the convention center. But that’s not really the case(in my view). This is Fanime using a valuable asset they cherish very much as an attempt to make the Doubletree location work.

Sorry DoubleTree. You’re too far. No hard feelings.

So we don’t end things on a downer, here is what was a highlight as always.  And that is the cosplayers. So many of them and so many cool costumes. Until next year.
