Hailing from Melbourne comes the debut album from Melbourne 5 piece technical death rising stars Hadal Maw. Named after the hadal zone the delineation for the deepest trenches in the ocean and maw which means the most voracious hunger or appetite of any kind, Hadal Maw have released their debut album “Senium”.

Three years in the making “Senium” is a technical death metal masterpiece. Showing influences from the likes of Meshuggah and Gorjira as well as being comprised of former members of Australian bands like Alarum, King Parrot, Swimming with Sharks and A Million Dead Birds laughing the band show that they have the technical knowledge and years of skill to produce some of the most amazing music I’ve heard all year.

The album kicks off with the track “Aetas de Morior” and it sets the pace for the rest of the album and it doesn’t relent. The drumming is thundering the guitars are so tight and vocalist Aaron Grice has a fantastic guttural bark.

Other stand out track on the album include, “From the Mouths of Monsters”, “Coil”, “Hypnoguise “and “Altar of Ire” but in saying that there is not bad song on this album. There is not a mediocre song on this album

The band is technically untouchable in the Australian death scene. I have yet to hear a local band like them and doubt we will for a long while. This album is in my top 3 albums for 2014.

I cannot wait to see these guys live and just watch the guitarists pull these track off live. If your a fan of Meshuggah and want something similar yet heavier or just a fan of fantastic death metal then you will need to get this album asap,
