EvilutionE5150 Album Review: HEADBORE – “STRENGTH IN NUMBERS”

Hailing from Adelaide comes another fantastic South Australian Metal Band HEADBORE

Formed in 2011 Headbore have quickly made a name for themselves in the Adelaide scene by playing alongside acts like Frankenbok, ROME, Truth Corroded and Be’Lakor and have now released their long awaiting debut LP “Strength In Numbers”

Recorded at Against the Grain Studios in Adelaide and mastered by Jens Bogren from Fascination Street Studios in Sweden, who worked with bands such as Opeth, Soilwork, Katatonia and Devin Townsend.

The bands sound on this album combines Thrash Metal and Groove Metal with elements of melody in the song structure.

The lead guitar work is fantastic, plenty of shred on this album and front man Adam’s vocals are intense. Great use of screams and growls here without going super over the top, even dropping into almost clean vocals in some spots. The drumming on this album sounds huge and fat as well. Musically the whole album is incredibly tight and crisp from start to finish.

Stand out tracks are “Enemy”, “Temptress” which features a very melodic chorus with clean vocals mixed in, the title track “Strength in numbers” that features a beautiful melodic intro and “Trenches”, the song that is being pushed as the major track of the album with the band creating a lyric video for it. Lyrically it’s about World War 2 and the experiences of those who served. The video is made up of personal photos of the bands family and friends who were there and were kind enough to allow the band to use

This is a very impressive debut album. It’s a superb, very heavy album, in a similar vein to other SA metallers like Truth Corroded and Double Dragon. Any fans of Chimaira and KSE will definitely wanna check this out
