FAN Interviews Wrestler Vin Gerard

Vin Gerard has a successful career in CHIKARA. He started out as Equinox, formed a faction entitled STIGMA, won the Young Lions cup and has been hailed by many as a talented wrestler. He’s wrestled many of today’s young upstarts and helped shape CHIKARA into the brand it is today. Currently, he’s in retirement after losing a match to Eddie Kingston. I interviewed this man on his wrestling career and his plans for the future.

1) What made you want to become a professional wrestler?

Wrestling.

2) You wrestled as Equinox, a masked wrestler, after graduating from Chikara’s Wrestle Factory school. Did you create the character and, if so, how did you come up with it?

I created it, yes. I knew at the time Chikara was desperate to bring in outside talent to bring some “recognition” to their company. I was training off and on at the Chikara Wrestle Factory when Jorge “Skayde” Rivera first started shopping up. He had taken somewhat of a shine to me because I was one of the only people at the time who can actually communicate with him. I decided to take advantage of that.

3) You were eventually unmasked and began performing as Vin Gerard. How do you feel this affected your career?

If I knew then what I do now, I would have devoted myself a lot more. Maybe stuck a needle in my butt, who knows? I didn’t though.

4) You defeated Fire Ant for the Young Lions Cup? How did this moment make you feel?

Delightful. Dream come true. Real recognize real type-a-shit. I hated that Ant. Still do.

5) You teamed with STIGMA and Colin Delaney to form UnStable. Any fond memories of this group?

I remember sitting in a Denny’s with Colin right after his match for the WWE against Mark Henry. Filling him in on everything going on in Chikara. Selfishly, I was hoping he’d get future endeavored.

6) What was your favorite match you took part in?

Probably the Golden Dreams Trios match. I despise a lot of wrestlers, but those other 8 guys are pretty talented. It’s a shame Sweeney couldn’t be a part of that.

7) Who was your favorite wrestler to face?

Jimmy Olsen, except when he punched me in the face. Then, I couldn’t eat for the rest of the day.

8) Jimmy Olsen began performing in your Equinox gear during your feud to play mind games with you. Was this insulting for you?

Looking at it now, I consider it kind of flattering. He wanted to get my attention so much so that he was willing to dawn that pathetic gimmick. Sounds like someone had a crush. Again, the things you realize now…

9) You put your career on the line a Title Vs. Career match against Eddie Kingston and lost. Any plans for retirement?

I don’t feel that this whole thing has closed just yet, but we’ll see. Currently, I’m working on this nightlife mobile app called “SnipStamp”. It should be launching within the next week or two. You nerds will like it, trust me. If you have an iPhone or Android device, you should probably become a tester. I need some help. Check it out at: http://www.facebook.com/snipstamp

I’ve also recently gotten myself into a bit of a scuffle with Professional Bundies throughout the World. This Aussie Jason Belmonte claims to be the best bowler in the world. We’ll see about all that.

10) Any words of inspiration for aspiring wrestlers?

Get trained properly, and learn how to market yourself. You’re the only one who will make you successful.

I’d like to thank Vin Gerard for taking time out of his schedule to conduct this interview! I hope you all enjoyed it and help him with “SnipStamp”!
