As reported by THR, a gaggle of folks who work on Bojack Horseman’s creative team are prepping a new animated series for Netflix.
Synopsis: “From the team behind BoJack Horseman, the animated comedy revolves around the friendship between two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca (Haddish), a cocky-care-free toucan, and Bertie, an anxious, day-dreaming songbird. (Bertie has not yet been cast.)”
So it might be something like Broad City meets Bojack? Sounds good to us. Either way, having Tiffany Haddish (Girls Night) on board to voice “a cocky-care-free toucan” is inspired casting and it’ll be very interesting to see who they cast as Bertie. Netflix has a pretty solid animated lineup already putting Cartoon Network/Adult Swim on notice by boasting a lot of stuff for kids and more than a few adult-oriented cartoons as well.
No date has been officially announced, but knowing Netflix we’ll probably hear about it in sky-writing during the finale of the Bachelor.
