You’re probably unfamiliar with this 2012 miniseries by Ed Brisson (writer of Murder Book, Sheltered, Old Man Logan to name a few), Michael Walsh (artist on X-Files, Secret Avengers and many, many others!) and Jordie Bellaire (who has colored nearly every damn book worth reading in the past decade and is the co-writer of Image Comics Redlands) because it’s not a superhero title, but Comeback is a terrific time-travel/noir/crime thriller that we covered on this very site which you should read if you haven’t already.
Synopsis: “Reconnect is more than a company–it’s an opportunity for good. Reconnect can reverse tragedy by sending agents into the past to rescue your mother, your wife, your brother or father or child moments before their untimely death. Mark is one of these agents. He brings the rescued from the past to the present, to a blessed reunion with their loved ones. He saves lives…or does he?”
Pairing Nacho Vigalondo – director of cult classic TimeCrimes and the more recent COLOSSAL (def check it out if you haven’t already) – with this head-spinning, snake-fuckingly-bizarre premise is a dream team for us. Nacho and Image Comics!?! Working together?!!? Fuuuuuuuuuuuck yea. Vigalondo is EXACTLY the kind of director this project needs (and honestly this is world’s colliding for me because I’ve been a huge fan of Vigalondo, Brisson/Walsh/Bellaire for years now so to see their creativity all coming together like this? Woooooooo!).
If you haven’t read Comeback – then you can still find it on Comixology (the first issue is only 99 cents, people! Get on it!) and get an idea of what you’re in for.
Of course you’re excited about one of your favorite directors working on such a bad ass project – tell us about it on Twitter @Official_FAN
