Anyone who watched Deadpool knows that Brianna Hildebrand’s Negasonic Teenage Warhead was the coolest part of the movie. And while a lot of people had some justifiable misgivings about X-Men: Apocalypse, Alexandra Shipp’s Storm was undeniably cool as well. By your powers combined, we have the trailer for Tragedy Girls!
Synopsis: “Best friends Sadie and McKayla are on a mission to boost their social media fandom as amateur crime reporters hot on the trail of a deranged local serial killer. After they manage to capture the killer and secretly hold him hostage, they realize the best way to get scoops on future victims would be to, you know, murder people themselves. As the @TragedyGirls become an overnight sensation and panic grips their small town, can their friendship survive the strain of national stardom? Will they get caught? Will their accounts get verified?”
Yes. This sounds…YES! We were over the moon with Ingrid Goes West (a insta-take on Single White Female), so the prospect of Tyler MacInytre’s deviant mind (he did direct Patchwork, after all) making some kind of ultra-twisted, modern, IRL version of Daria’s Sick, Sad, World/Heathers/Scream is highly tantalizing. It also reminds us of the much slept-on Netflix show CrazyHead, which was a fucking blast. Everything about it seems like it is straight out of my dream journal and is showing up JUST IN TIME for the start of Halloween/PumpkinSpice season.
