Summer Anime Season 2017

Summer is under way(my ramen is out heating up on the side walk), and new anime shows are arriving as well. So me obligating my duties as being a guy who is both spot on and completely wrong in my choices is happening again. Time for some anime predictions on what could be good. As per my usual ways, I make these predictions based on whether a show has an interesting premise, or stands out in some way(such as the art style or staff working on the show).
So put away that sunscreen(you look like a boiled sausage) and takes a look at what looks good for this summer season.

Ballroom e Youkoso
A young man learns to dance in a sports anime centering around ballroom dancing. Not an activity we see too often in this genre, and it has a peculiar animation style. With the elongated limbs, that I assume is to accentuate the movements in ballroom dancing. In addition, a dance instructor who looks like he’s teaching martial arts(seriously, he punches the protagonist in the gut in order to bend him forward).

Kakegurui
In a private academy, those who rise to the top depend on who is the best at the skill of gambling. These characters look like they take the skill extremely serious. As you can guess from the animation style that I would describe as intense (these weird, detailed faces) . It’s gonna be a major battle of wits as these students try to break through each other’s motives and poker faces.

Princess Principal
Espionage and action collide in this show about an alternate world London that is a city divided in half by a wall. This looks quite interesting seeing the dark and violent style of bloody action combined with cute, moe girls running around in combat.

Made in abyss
Strange creatures and undiscored relics await underground as explorers known as Cave Raiders dare to venture down into an area known as the “Abyss.” The premise sounds good, but what really catches my attention is the art style. The characters have circular shaped heads and overall look very cartoonish. But on top of that the design of the machinery and backgrounds appear very detailed and intriguing to look at. Overall , this show is definitely gonna stand out.

Centaur no nayami
A teenage centaur girl attends high school along with her friends who also have special physical features of their own. Just that sentence should be enough to get some of us watching. Where as Monster Musume had monster girls trying to adjust to the world of humans, this series has them living their lives as normal and showing us how it would be like.

Gamers!
A high school club of video game players, where each one has an interesting quirk or story on why they game.  I look forward to this take particular take on the video game audience.

New Game!!
And speaking of gaming, one of my favorite shows returns for another season. Can’t wait to see how further Aoba goes into the gaming industry.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear AXZ
The maidens of music and battle return for a fourth season(they’ve been going strong for a while).

So those are the picks for this season. As usual I give these a three episode try before figuring out if it’s worth watching. Happy viewings! Let’s see if these shows are as hot as this summer(the ice in your drink melted, by the way).
