Big Screen Scoop: Scoop Hard With A Vengeance

NOW I HAVE A PREQUEL. NO-NO-NO

Die Hard, the movie franchise that has proven appropriately if frustratingly difficult to kill, is set for a sixth installment, despite the disappointing performance of the last film in the series, Old Dogs Die Hard or whatever it was called. You know, the one in Russia.

Deadline reports that the director of the last film Len Wiseman is developing a sixth film along with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Rather than continuing the misguided ‘bigger=better’ approach to these sequels and sending John McClane out into space, get together and have a few laughs, Wiseman and di Bonaventura are looking at putting together a prequel set in 1979, when McClane was just an ordinary cop in New York City. That’s what everybody loves about John McClane, right? Him being in the right place at the right time?

The idea is to leave things open for Bruce Wilis to appear even with it being a prequel, with him bookending the scenes set in the past, which would be the bulk of the movie, with a younger actor playing McClane. Kind of sounds like a way of coaxing grumpy grandpa Bruce Wilis back, giving him a payday but not having him have to get up from his comfy chair much.

WILL HULK HELP THOR: RAGNAROK BE A SMASH?

I mean, no. Nobody cares about Thor: Ragnarok. But it’s at least worth a shot.

After texting Captain America: Civil War and asking if he could be invited to be in the movie like everyone else and getting the dreaded “new fone who dis?” in return, the Incredibly Neglected Hulk apparently went on a bit of a bender and woke u to realise that he drunk dialled Thor and asked to be in his sequel instead. And, you know, he’d back out, but it would make things awkward. You wouldn’t like it when it’s awkward.

Mark Ruffalo is nearing a deal to appear as the Hulk in the upcoming third installment in the Thor series Thor: Ragnarok is what I’m saying.
