Prometheus, the Alien-prequel-but-it-isn’t-oh-wait-it-is of 2012, made sure to conclude with the possibility for a sequel. It mostly did this by not actually answering any of the questions that it posed during its entire run-time, in much the same way as a murder mystery might have a sequel hook if it forgets to tell you who the killer was, but regardless, Ridley Scott is all set for the Prometheus sequel, and with a slight change to the naming convention of the series, at least one question has been answered: Could Prometheus possibly by any more pretentious? Yes, of course.

Scott revealed that the sequel will be called Alien: Paradise Lost, the 77 year old director having apparently just completed the first year of an English lit course in college. He says that there are similarities between his work and the Milton’s poem which is what inspired the title. It’s good to know he didn’t decide on the title ‘Paradise Lost’ after desperately realising that the once-great Alien series will never be good again. After all the faffing and ineffective spaceship-dodging of Prometheus, Scott revealed that Paradise Lost will actually delve into series backstory, by looking at the xenomorph’s and “why and how and when the beast was invented”. Where they made to be killing machines or for aliens with bizarre fetishes? Tune in to Alien: Paradise Lost to find out the truth!

Two of the Internet’s favourite Oscar chasers/hansy lads Jake Gyllenhall and Benedict Cumberbatch might be set to feature in a film together. A film about electricity. Fan fiction writers, get those keyboards ready.

According to Variety, Cumberbatch and Gyllenhall are in talks to star in the film The Current Wars as Thomas Edison and George Westinghouse…well you’ve heard of Thomas Edison haven’t you? The film is about Westinghouse and Edison battling to dominate the market for the hot new thing in the late 1880s: electricity. And then maybe they kiss? (They’re not going to kiss) Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, director of recent hit Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is set to direct.
