Big Screen Scoop: Scooptre

CHRISTOPH WALTZ LOOMS LARGE OVER 007, LIKE SOME KIND OF….SHADOW…THINGY

James Bond-once again, the world’s most well-known and therefore least effective secret agent-has had a lot to deal with ever since Daniel Craig took up the mantle. It seems like in every new movie, somebody very close to Craig’s Bond is killed, which is quite the feat considering that Bond’s whole deal is that he isn’t close to anybody. The new full trailer for Spectre hints at things getting personal for Bond again, as Christoph Waltz reveals the face to go with his unmistakable voice, purring to Bond that he is “the author of all your pain”.

When we’ve got summer blockbusters of recent times desperately throwing plot points into the trailers in a desperate attempt to drum up interest, it’s nice to see Spectre attempting to remain mysterious. So it’s got that going for it, plus an interesting cast of actors and some beautiful cinematography. Keep Bond from getting up to any more creepy business in the showers and we’ll be all set for a cool movie.

GUYS, I’VE GOT NEWS! ROB MCELHENNY TO DIRECT MINECRAFT MOVIE

Minecraft I suppose is in a way a game all about cultivating mass, so who better to direct a movie based on the video game than It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia‘s Mac? I mean, maybe Dennis, considering his affinity for his TOOLS?

Rob McElhenny is the man to get the gig though, replacing Night of the Museum director Shawn Levy, who dropped out. There is no screenplay as of yet for Warner Bros. Minecraft, but come on, considering the classic story of the game, how could it be anything other than a masterpiece? McElhenny has more experience behind the camera than just Lethal Weapon sequels, having directed a few episodes of It’s Always Sunny, as well as the upcoming Figments, about a young boy and his overactive imagination, which is probably what got him this job. That or his impressive backflipping skills.
