Making their debut from Sweden comes epic doom metal band Below. Formed in 2012 and getting signed to Metal Blade Record the band have released their debut album “Across The Dark River”

Really hitting upon the epic doom metal genre and taking things up to 11, Below sound like the epic bastard child of Candlemass and Tony Martin era Black Sabbath. They really capture that late 80s epic doom sound and bring it to life with modern production.

The whole album is really atmospheric and singer Zeb’s vocals are extremely reminiscent of Messiah Marcolin but with a much broader range. Musical the guys all have great chops and seeing as this is their debut they are clearly going to grow in leaps and bounds

Stand out tracks include the intro track “Trapped Under Ground”, the epic “Ghost Of A Shepard, the main single “Portal” and the title track “Across The Dark Rive” which closes out the album.

This album is classic doom at is purist with enough of a modern take on it that it wont bore anyone thinking they’re just a rehash of what has already been done.

All fans of doom metal will definitely want to pick this one up
