Awesome Metal Review: Kampfar – DJEVELMAKT

Origin: Norway

Genre: Black Metal

Released: January 27th, 2014 on Indie Recordings

Pagan black metal band Kampfar is back with their sixth full-length album, and as such it marks 20 years as a band for the Norwegians.

In Djevelmakt, the music is a pagan, progressive style of black metal. Think of a cross between Taake, Enslaved, and Windir. But, really no two songs are quite the same on this album. While they all have ample levels of aggression, they vary in pace. Tracks like Kujon thunder along at a brisk tempo while a track such as Swarm Norvecigus is slower and more ominous in approach.

All in all, this is a high quality release, which for Kampfar, is business as usual
