September 20th Album Releases

So here we are. I am personally sorry to those who may have missed my articles. Personal things came up, and I just haven’t had much time to write these things. But, I promise I will devote more time to this, and making sure I have a new article up every week, letting you all know what’s coming up in the world of music, whether popular or unknown.

This week, there’s a lot of music I’m actually interested in. For one, my hero in life, Jesse Hughes, has his first solo album coming out on Tuesday. Gavin DeGraw has a new record out, and Tony Bennett’s highly anticipated ‘Duets II’ is being released. So without further ado, let’s introduce you to something that will rock your ears off with awesomeness!

Boots Electric – “Honkey Kong”

Ladies and gentlemen…I love this man. The video for his first single, ‘Boots Electric Theme,’ is enough proof as to why he is a rock and roll god. Hailing from the southern parts of South Carolina, the Devil is most known as the guitarist and singer in the band Eagles of Death Metal, along with Josh Homme. But now, Mr. Hughes wants to make a name for himself, and this first record will surely prove that he’s got what it takes. A bit of a personal note, I got to see his first solo concert, which was beyond fantastic. The man even retweeted something I said in regards to my preparation before the concert. Talk about being in awe, eh? Anyway, make sure you pick this one up so you, like him, can shake your dicks along to his music!

Gavin DeGraw – “Sweeter”

In much talked about news, Gavin DeGraw was attacked last month one night in NYC, and spent a few weeks recuperating. Before that happened though, he was busy making this LP. His first since 2009, what better way to show people you’re doing better than ever than to release an album! The first single ‘Not Over You’ is exactly what it sounds like – a love song. One that is actually quite catchy, much like most of his past hits like ‘In Love with a Girl’ and ‘Don’t Want to Be.’ DeGraw recently opened some dates for Maroon 5 and Train, and will soon be going on tour with David Cook soon!

The Jayhawks – “Mockingbird Time”

The Jayhawks are an alt-country band from Minneapolis. Here’s something new! To the article, that is. Alt-country, something that’s apparently been around since the 1980’s, as that’s when this band formed. Putting forth their first release since 2003’s “Rainy Day Music.” The first single, entitled ‘She Walks in So Many Ways,’ is quite a fun song, for what it is. If you’re looking for something different, I’d recommend picking this one up. At a record store, of course.

Mindless Behavior – “#1 Girl”

Another first! A boy band! Zack Ryder would be proud! And this is a legitimate boy band, as in the members all look like they still get driven to the mall by their minivan-driving moms. Naturally, the first thing you hear in the video for their song ‘Mrs. Right’ (really? Like….really?) is a school bell being rung. Although what’s cool is that the teacher is LL Cool J. Huh. We’re just doing live play-by-play of this song now. Started like it’d be a slow song, then turned into a dance-able one. I’d dance to it, anyway. So, if you’re one of many in the Zack Pack, WWWYKI, and at least give these boys a lesson, as I can’t think of many other boy bands in 2011.

Tony Bennett – “Duets II”

Before we get started with this one, it should be noted that this comes out on Mr. Bennett’s 85th birthday. I know you won’t read this, but have a great one, sir! Just heard by the public last week was the song ‘The Lady is a Tramp,’ his classy duet with Lady Gaga. When I mean classy, I mean classy. This is good big band type stuff. What this album is probably most talked about for is the song done with Amy Winehouse, which is one of the last songs she ever released before her untimely passing. It’s titled ‘Body and Soul,’ and I actually won’t listen to it, as I plan on getting this album and listening to it then. So go out on Tuesday and get this one.

That’s it for this week! I’d post where you can contact me, but meh, I’ll do that next week! Hope you enjoyed this!
