Blink-182 – Up All Night

If you decide to randomly walk up to me and say “Blink 182” it never fails to send me right back to Elementary school. I remember one of my best friend’s bringing “Enema of the State” to school, and I was all kinds of enamored with the girl on the cover

It’s been a while since Blink 182 has put out a record (2003 to be exact), but they have returned! This week in Music on Video, we take a look at the video for Blink’s newest single, “Up All Night”.

The video starts out with an astronaut/superhero/drunk riding on a bicycle in a rather apocalyptic scene

OMG, Best Block Party EVAR!!!!!!11

After we see him ride around for a bit, we are greeted with more scenes from the most anarchy infested suburb in all of America.  Cars and pianos on fire, kids carrying hockey sticks, teddy bears with dynamite strapped to them.

And it seems the motive behind this suburban dead of night riot is really the same as all the rest of them

Damn Those Parents! Trying To Stop Our Random Blink Concerts! When Will They Learn?!

It is then revealed that the ringleaders of the riot is none other than – Blink 182!

The Most Melodic Scene Of Anarchy Known To Man

The song picks up hard and everybody really starts going at it, riding bikes through the streets and tearing up the insides of the houses. Hell, even giant frogs and wolves can’t help but rock out to the Blink!

The video pretty much follows that anarchy setting for the time being, skating parties inside of the houses, people tearing up the aforementioned houses, and people driving through the wreckage in the streets.

Totally NOT A Safe Transportation Method

The moods seems to transfer from angry rioting into more of a good time party, in which everybody seems to really be having a good time.

Well, Almost Everyone

This good time seems to last for a little while, but just as soon as it started shit GETS. REAL.

Werewolves, Demon Monsters, Can't We All Be Friends?

So in a matter of minutes we’ve gone from apocalyptic scenery falling over a suburban neighborhood, to the end all be all party of the century, to the most bizarre war ever.

Red Rover Red Rover, Ah Screw It!

Outside of a few shots of Blink jamming in the streets and in the houses, the video pretty much ends with the fighting scene above, only with them inches away from each other.

Overall

Video – I actually really enjoyed this video, it has a great plot, it looks great, and is very different from a great number of music videos already out there.

Song – Putting my nostalgia for Blink aside, this song is 100% solid. The riff and the rest of the song are polar opposite from each other – the song is classic Blink but I’d describe the riff as being early Slipknot doing Pop-Punk. I give the song, and video, a solid 9/10. Highly recommended!
